Hash House a go go
All I can say is: Big. Ass. Portions.
I visited Hash House a go go on a recent trip to San Diego.
This place has been on my "To-Eat" list for years now and my boyfriend and I finally got a chance to make it over. This is saying a lot considering I was recovering from a broken leg (with a walking boot and crutches), it was raining, and I didn't really want to go anywhere.
I suppose I didn't expect the sheer quantity of food that we were getting ourselves into. Sure, I've been to restaurants with big portions, but this place is a little unreal.
I ordered the roasted chicken hash which came in a giant, square iron skillet. Inside the hefty piece of iron was a giant biscuit, scrambled eggs and a mountain of chicken, asparagus, and potatoes. It was ridonculous (meaning it was so insane that it caused me to misspell ridiculous).
The boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy which came on a serving platter (think Thanksgiving turkey size platter). His plate was made up of two giant biscuits laying on a bed of mashed potatoes, and covered in ladles of gravy.
Overall, I was really impressed with this place. With the exception of the long wait to get a table, the friendly service and the giant leftovers make me excited to go back next time I'm in the San Diego area. You should too!
The most glorious pancakes I've ever had!
